Get excited, man!
I’ve finally bowed to pressure and started a blog. Actually, I went to a very interesting talk about ‘New media’ and decided it was time to take the plunge. And – namedrop namedrop – a former war correspondent for The Times told me to ‘get a blog’so it’d be rude not to, really…
But there’s a big huge disclaimer coming right here in the very first post: I am doing this to get a column, or at least some respectable form of paid, slightly more creative writing. Please cherish the precious pearls of wisdom dispensed herein, because I am actually a fully-paid up member of the traditional media, so actually, you’re saving yourself the cost of a magazine/paper/newswire subscription every time you read this! Just think. You’re probably at least 50p better off and we’ve only just reached the end of the first paragraph.
I’ve been having a very exciting time recently, in fact it’s been a very busy week. I have eaten lots of sandwiches and complementary wine. I also have finally admitted that I spend lots of time looking at my friend’s online musings, and decided to join in as well. I absolutely, faithfully promise you we’ll have no navel-gazing, no names and no nefarious activities here. Just lots of completely unsourced, unsubstantiated rumours and canapés. I might even talk about films if you’re lucky.
Anyway I have to run now – I’m going to the Hotel Metropole to check out the nibbles-and-drinkies situation, oops, I mean get the inside track on the European Central Bank…

Hello, Princess.
I’ve just read your comment on Litlove’s blog about the difficulty of navigating directly to blogsites we know, but can’t find through links.
As a way of helping, I have just opened two Forum Topics called “Tag Search, please” and “Blog Search, please”.
I’m glad you tickled me into action on these questions, and hope other bloggers will step up and help us get two nifty new features.

David that is SO helpful! I shall pop over there (if I can find it!) and contribute to your thread!
And also thank you for my first comment

At least, I think that’s how it works.

I’ve never actually addressed a comment to someone whose first name is Princess, or (even scarier) someone who might actually BE a Princess, but I’m willing to give it a try, because I can see already how much fun your blog is going to be. So welcome, and good luck getting that column — not to mention scoring some nice food at the Hotel Metropole.
